Long beach
This beach is in the Bay of Pigs, in the Peninsula of Zapata, 32 km of the State highway and to the North of Girón beach. Its centric location causes that it is a begin with ideal point for ecological excursions around the Peninsula of Zapata. In this blue water they inhabit a great variety of fish, fans of sea and enormous colonies of crabs, lobsters and barracudas. By all means, it is possible to be taken a bath in the Long Beach sea, a sand beach excellent and warm waters located at the end of the bay.

Montserrate Chapel
For an excellent view of Matanzas and the Valle del Yumurí, climb the recently renovated chapel dating from 1875. The chapel, somewhat above the city, was built by colonists from Catalonia in Spain as a symbol of their regional power. The statues in front of the chapel, also from Catalonia, representing its four provinces, were placed there during the shooting of a film and have not been taken away since.

Tiki Bar Restaurant
A restaurant located at the head of the Bay of Pigs, a bit tricky to find but worth the search. The food is prepared in an open kitchen allowing you to peek. The food is good and so are the views over the bay.

Saturno Cave
Located outside Matanzas, one kilometer south of the Vía Blanca, near the airport turn-off, is the Cueva Saturno. It is widely advertised as a snorkeling spot, but really is a large cave with a large and deep pool which offers limited snorkeling access. It is very popular with the Cubans. There is a 24-hour cafeteria on-site.
